Bicycle Laws & Safety
Area Bike Clubs

Bike Clubs are a great way to connect with other riders who share your riding style.  You'll gain knowledge, ridely safely in numbers, have fun, meet new people, and always have a riding partner.   You'll get to be an active participant in cycling events at whatever level suits you.  You'll have information from their websites and newsletters that will always keep you abreast of cycling activities way before they happen.  Find out about your nearest bike club by clicking on any of the links below:

www.berksbicycle.com - Ride with people who enjoy riding.  Discover some new areas of Berks County and surrounding areas.  Learn to ride better and longer.  We have 'Family Fun Rides' and  Social Rides' scheduled during the summer months.  BCBC membership runs from April to March and dues are only $20 per household.  Membership provides you with a monthly newsletter and lots of fun. We welcome cyclists of all ages and abilities!

www.suburbancyclists.org - a group of active recreational cyclists who tour the roads and trails of Montgomery and Bucks Counties in southeastern Pennsylvania. Weekend rides are offered throughout the year; weeknight rides are offered at several locations in Montgomery County from April through September. SCU also sponsors two public rides: the Quad County Metric in early May, and the Lake Nockamixon Century in late August. Check the ride schedule and come join us on a ride. We'd love to meet you!

www.phillybikeclub.org - The Bicycle Club of Philadelphia (BCP), founded in 1979, is dedicated to the encouragement of all aspects of bicycling, including touring and mountain biking. The purpose of the club is: to sponsor recreational cycling activities, encourage bicycling as a transportation alternative and to promote bicyclists' rights and safe bicycling practices. BCP is a volunteer, non-profit organization. BCP membership runs from April 1st to March 31st.

www.cbbikeclub.org - The Central Bucks Bicycle Club (CBBC) was established in 1975 to promote the sport of recreational cycling and long distance bicycle touring in Bucks County, PA. Come out and discover the less-traveled back roads of Bucks as well as nearby Hunterdon County, NJ. The paved roads that we ride today had their origins as footpaths cut by native Americans through the forests that once covered this area, leaving you to ponder the history and by-gone days of this scenic countryside.  Regular cycling activities include: evening and weekend bicycle rides (both road and mountain) throughout the year, overnight bicycle trips, and week-long excursions as well as monthly tailgate rides (all-category rides which conclude with food and drinks as well as social activities). Annual events include the No-Name Century ride and picnic, club banquet, holiday party, and the fall Covered Bridges Ride which hosted over 2800 riders in 2004.

www.dvbc.org - The Delaware Valley Bicycle Club (DVBC) is a small non-profit organization which serves Delaware County and adjacent areas west of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. DVBC, which is probably the oldest bike club in the Philadelphia area, was formed in 1973 (informally circa 1968) to educate the public as to the safe use of the bicycle through lectures, seminars, planned rides, and other activities promoting the bicycle as an efficient and enjoyable means of exercise, recreation, and transportation. DVBC is a relatively small club and currently has approximately 180 members. We are affiliated with League of American Bicyclists and the Bicycle Coalition of the Delaware Valley. DVBC actively works on projects lobbying political support for issues important to cyclists. We lead many free rides every month for all levels of cyclists. Our meetings and rides are open to the public.

www.brandywinebicycleclub.org - a group of bicycle enthusiasts offering rides and activities for all levels of cyclists and family members. Road and mountain group rides are scheduled almost every Saturday and Sunday, and several others are offered during the week.

PHILLY VELO CLUB (PVC)

A club for people who are into the biking lifestyle/culture (art, film, clothes, accessories, commuting, environment, etc.) and, of course, into bicycles themselves and would enjoy a place to meet fellow bicyclists and go bike riding in and around Philly.

Unlike other Philadelphia bike clubs, we do less traditional, fun riding and racing (e.g. cyclocross, tall bikes, folding, tandem, unicycles, night urban rides, alleycats, crits, goldsprints/roller races, brewery rides, bike polo, bike touring, winery rides, mystery rides, etc). We also do regular social events. Finally, we actively advocate and contribute towards creating a more bicyclist-friendly Philly.

We are a zero-hype, low-key group and welcome all kinds of bicyclists, whether you enjoy wearing lycra or wool; ride clip or clipless pedals, fixed or freewheel; like steel or carbon, titanium or scandium; race crits or commute; are a retrogrouch or a weight weenie, a monarchist or an anarchist.

Please join our group on Facebook!
