Welcome to Bikesport's safety page! We're glad you decided to visit!
When you buy a bike at Bikesport, we make sure that you are aware of the laws of the road and how to be a safe rider. The following is a basic guide to these laws. PennDOT has a wonderful bike safety website full of great information, available at http://www.dot.state.pa.us/bike/web/index.htm

Here are our safety rules of thumb:
Know your bike! Nothing is more important than understanding how your bike works and being comfortable on it. At Bikesport, we properly size you to your bike and make sure that you understand your shifting system. If you ride with toe straps or clipless pedals, make sure that you know how to get your feet in and out.
A bicycle is considered a vehicle on the road and, therefore, you must adhere to the laws of the road as if you were driving a car.
Right is right! Ride on the right hand side of the road... WITH traffic, not against it.
Lend a hand! Use hand signals to indicate when you are turning or stopping.
Follow the lead! When riding with a group, ride single file.
Heads up! Let other cyclists (or runners, in-line skaters, equestrians, etc) know when you are passing them, and on which side you will pass.
